Serengeti

The Serengeti, whose Maasai name ‘Siringet’ translates as ‘the endless plains’, offers unparalleled ornithological opportunities and an unrivalled natural arena wherein the glory and harmony of nature can be appreciated as nowhere else on earth.

Fact File
Area:  14,760 sq kms.
Location:  200 kms west of Arusha: the park’s northern boundary abuts with the Kenya border, its western boundary reaches Lake Victoria.

Wildlife highlights: wildebeest, zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, lion, spotted hyena, hunting dog, cheetah, black rhino, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, topi, eland, jackal and otter. Birds: over 350 recorded species including 34 raptors.

NGORONGORO

Often referred to as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas. A World Heritage Site, it is also one of the largest volcanic craters in the world (almost 20 kilometres wide, 610-760 metres deep and covering a total area of 264 square kilometres).

Fauna:Large population of ungulates in the crater and high numbers of predators, particularly lion. The only absentees from the usual East African large mammals are the giraffe, impala and female and young elephants.

Birds: Abundant birds include ostrich, kori bustard, Verreaux’s eagle, Egyptian vulture, rosy-breasted longclaw and lesser flamingo.

This safari takes you into the heart of the Kenyan wilderness. Enjoy the game viewing experience, relax by the poolside and savor the serenity before returning to the hectic city life.

Masai Mara Reserve is the northern extension of the rolling plains of Tanzania’s Serengeti. The rolling plains and grasslands, stretching far into the horizons as far as the eye can see is home to the black-manned lion, the savannah elephant, the Cape buffalo, wildebeests, the elusive leopard, cheetah, the spotted & stripped hyena, the rhino, topi, burchelle’s zebra, the Maasai giraffe among many others. You may even be so lucky to witness a leopard or a cheetah sprint and make a kill!

The Mara game reserve is one that can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. For a long time, Mara Game Reserve has stubbed her authority as the ‘granary’ of wildlife in Kenya.
